Town to Gown: the Reading Guild of Artists summer show

By Gillie Tunley and Adam Harrington.

Liz Chaderton: great crested grebe, fisher king, heron and kingfisher (ink, watercolour and metal leaf).

The Reading Guild of Artists (RGA) are staging their fifth summer show at the University of Reading’s Institute of Education at their London Road campus until 24 June. It features an exhibition by RGA’s talented members, highlights from the fabulous Whiteknights Studio Trail, and includes a showcase for inspirational final year work by BA Ed Art students.

More than 200 works are on display, including paintings, sculptures, jewellery and tapestries, ranging in style from impressionistic landscapes to avant-garde abstracts.

The Reading Guild of Artists summer show is free to enter and is at the art building L04 at Reading University’s London Road Campus RG1 5AQ. It is open from 10am until 4pm each day until Sunday 24 June.

Your friendly neighbourhood correspondents Gillie Tunley and Adam Harrington were immortalised in profile by the extraordinary silhouettist Charles Burns at this RGA summer show preview. If you live in the Katesgrove, Whitley or Redlands area in Reading and would like the opportunity to attend and report on local events, please contact us at whitleypump.uk@gmail.com.
