People over 65 years of age have been invited to a free community performance of Silent Generation at Reading’s South Street Arts Centre on Thursday 25 April.

The show is being put on by StrikeUp Theatre, who say:

The play emerges from interviews with Reading residents born 1925-45; an era when children should be seen-and-not-heard, and when it often felt dangerous to speak out politically.

Now in their 70s-90s, are the Silent Generation heard today?

With low social integration and little representation across television and social-media platforms, it doesn’t feel like it.

The community performance is at 4pm on Thursday 25 April at the South Street Arts Centre, 21 South St, Reading RG1 4QU. If you are over 65 years old, you can book your free ticket by contacting Rachel Mary at StrikeUp Theatre by email at rachel@strikeuptheatre.co.uk or telephone on 0751 471 2785.
