StrikeUp Scratch Night

StrikeUp theatre will be running acting courses at the Rising Sun Arts Centre starting on Thursday 9 January and running until 26 March. The morning course will cover ‘the actor and power’ and ‘the actor and pace’ and the evening course ‘the actor and truth’ and ‘the actor and the audience’.

Both courses are £135 for 10 weeks and can be booked by email to rachel@strikeuptheatre.co.uk.

StrikeUp theatre provided an entertaining evening at their Scratch Night at the Rising Sun Arts Centre in December. The theatre group were raising funds for a spring 2020 tour of England with their production of Silent Generation that was first performed at South Street Arts Centre last Spring.

The Scratch Night comprised three new comedy plays interspersed with monologues and a group reading of part of Under Milk Wood. The comedies were produced during the year in StrikeUp Forum Theatre sessions during which a short play was interpreted in three different ways. In the first performance the playwright directed and in the second a different director took charge. In the third iteration, the actors worked with a basic outline of the plot, the first and last sentence from the script and a prop.
