Heritage Open Days (HODs) are celebrating their 25th birthday with an extended programme of events over ten days from 13 to 22 September. There are over 40 participating venues and events in Reading this year and you don’t have to go too far from the Whitley Pump for some of them.
Reading Community Energy Society is offering grant funding for sustainability initiatives in and around Reading, from £100 to £5,000 for initiatives which meet one or more of the following aims: -Improving energy efficiency -Reducing carbon emissions -Support sustainability in the local community including educational projects

Having carved its way from Caversham Road to the foot of Southampton Street, in the 1970s Reading’s Inner Distribution Road (IDR) stopped abruptly at the ‘ski jump’ where the Oracle roundabout now is. During this hiatus, Reading consulted and debated about whether and how to continue.
Reading Community Energy Society (RCES) is a not-for-profit social enterprise founded in 2016 to establish community-owned renewable energy facilities in the Reading area. They are looking for owners and users of large buildings in the town who would like renewable energy facilities installed.
